  • Procurement Assistant

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Assistant to join our centralised Procurement Team, which is fundamental to the continued development of the business.

    Procurement Assistant Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Procurement Manager and collaborating closely with the wider business the Procurement Assistant will play pivotal role supporting our fast moving, dynamic Procurement Team in the progressing of orders.

    • Contacting Suppliers to expediate delivery of goods and update Purchase Orders on our ERP System.
    • Support with Delivery Discrepancies.
    • Arrange collections from suppliers using our Internal fleet of vehicles.
    • Encourage continual improvement of all activities within the Procurement Department, allowing for the development of relationships between internal and external stake-holders.
    • Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure needs are met to mutual satisfaction and end user satisfaction.
    • Promoting the department to other internal departments, with can do attitude. Providing cover for other members of dept. during holidays and illness.
    • Support with tendering opportunities.
    • Adopt a pragmatic approach to Continuous Improvement by learning from our past experiences with a view to making things better for future projects.  Incorporate these learnings into appropriate systems  and processes and drive a continuous improvement ethos across our internal and external stakeholders.
    • Take up any other related projects and lead as requested by the Procurement Manager.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Maths and English to GCSE or equivalent.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and suppliers.
    • Capable of influencing and working with staff at all levels to drive change.
    • Highly competent/computer literate with a number of Microsoft Office applications and relevant software packages.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Be able to motivate yourself and possess self-management skills.
    • Keen eye for detail, organised and methodical.

    Nice to have: 

    • A minimum of 2 years of working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience of using ticketing systems such as Zendesk or Freshdesk.
    • Appreciation of interdepartmental cooperation to achieve individual and company goals.
    • A basic understanding of Procurement / Purchasing.

  • Life Science Sales Specialist

    Job Summary:

    To keep pace with customer demands and the growth we have seen in 2022/23, we are recruiting a Life Science Sales Specialist covering the Midlands region on a permanent basis to join our innovative and fast paced business. This is a new role to support and expand the growth we have experienced in this territory.

    We are looking for an experienced, hardworking, individual who is organised and methodical with a determined approach to network through large, complex organisations with the aim of growing and retaining existing and new relationships. You must be ready to give 100% at all times.

    This role is field-based selling laboratory consumables, reagents and equipment aimed at Life Science research. There is an existing customer base which needs to be built upon and extended, so a technical Life Science background and Business Development skills will be essential to succeed. You will immerse yourself into the world of academia, research, biotech, clinical, pharma or industrial laboratory environments. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Achieve Sales and Margin target set by the company.
    • Visit customers to promote and sell the SLS Life Science range.
    • Provide technical and product support to the Sales Force and customers.
    • Support the Field Sales Team with customer visits and demonstrations or any other required field/ remote selling activity.
    • Provide customers with timely responses and quotations.
    • Generate leads for key suppliers and provide regular feedback on open opportunities.
    • Attend joint customer visits with key suppliers.
    • Attend product training sessions hosted by key suppliers. Support Field Sales Team in key flagship accounts.
    • Work with key suppliers and Field Sales Team to create territory plans, selling strategies and regional Marketing Promotions Identify new business opportunities within the territory.
    • Provide Monthly Report of activity, supplier meetings and open opportunities.
    • Advise ‘Sales Manager - Life Science Products’ of new market trends in the Life Science sector.
    • Manage and maintain CRM to capture data on activity, leads and actions.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Must live in/near London.
    • Broad experience of selling Life Science consumables and equipment.
    • Strong technical knowledge of Life Science Research, including disciplines such as Molecular Biology and Cell Biology.
    • Strong commercial awareness.
    • Ability to manage own territory by identifying and capitalising on opportunities.
    • Relationship builder.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • A team player who can work effectively with a range of internal stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
    • Able to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
    • Self-motivated and driven (goes beyond the “9 to 5”)
    • Ability to motivate and influence others within the SLS Sales Force to sell Life Science products.
    • Full UK driving licence is essential for this role, as you will be travelling around the region to your customers daily.

    Job Summary:

    As a Marketing Executive, you will be part of our dynamic Marketing team, reporting to the Group Marketing Manager and working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, Design and publications Manager, and Senior Product Manager to strategize and develop marketing promotional activities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Involved in various aspects of modern marketing, including trade shows, exhibitions, marketing collateral management, market research, marketing planning, copywriting, and more.
    • Responsible for generating leads, building relationships with customers and stakeholders
    • Prepare and deliver trade shows and exhibitions, managing logistics and restocking of tabletop exhibition kits.
    • Manage marketing exhibition collateral stock levels to ensure availability for marketing activities. Use market research and analysis to advise on Group entity marketing strategy and planning.
    • Support marketing plans for all media channels and sales teams/divisions.
    • Support and promote the creative development of promotional materials, catalogues, website content, advertisements, and other marketing-related projects.
    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and customers.
    • Conduct copywriting and proofreading for marketing materials, including press releases, content, social media content, and case studies.
    • Clearly communicate and articulate design concepts and requirements to creative teams to ensure artwork aligns with brand identity and project goals.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Degree level education in a related subject.
    • Knowledge of marketing promotion methods, practices, and techniques, with the ability to leverage a mix of marketing activities to generate demand and increase revenue.
    • Ability to create marketing collateral and communicate product value to meet customer needs. Demonstrable evidence of delivering marketing activities that generate new leads and build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
    • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and deliver tasks in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of scientific communications is desirable to understand customer needs and competitor activities.
    • Problem-solving skills and ability to overcome challenges and obstacles.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
